2016 CHW Scholarship Fund Winners Announced
Cannon Heyman & Weiss, LLP has announced the winners of its fourth annual CHW Scholarship Fund. The 1st place award of $10,000 went to Francisco Rodriguez who will study at Boston College, the 2nd place award of $5,000 went to Joseph Graham who will study at Virginia State University, and the 3rd place award of $2,000 went to Ilam Moumou who will study at Cornell University.
CHW created its Scholarship Fund in 2013 as a means of helping students living in affordable rental housing developments realize the dream of furthering their educational training. Providing financial aid to qualified students is an extension of the CHW mission and reflective of its commitment to the affordable housing industry and community development. The Scholarship Fund, which is entirely underwritten by CHW, awards scholarships to students seeking full- and part-time undergraduate study at approved colleges, junior colleges, technical schools and other post-secondary institutions leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
CHW also named eleven winners of honorable mention awards in the amount of $500 each. Those winners were: Rebecca Arnold, Gianni Cobb, Aaliyah Hospedales, Jax Li, Ricardo Marrero, Jacqueline Martinez-Torres, Chelsea Palmer, Chanel Pegeron, Maurice Reid, Jr., Ahmed-Badawi Siiba and Adriana Toribio.
Six of the scholarship winners are residents of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments. NYCHA included an article titled “Scholastic Superstars,” featuring the scholarship winners, in its August/September edition of The NYCHA Journal.
